Since 1845, the Naval Academy in the centre of Annapolis has been educating officers for the American Navy and Marine Corps.
In addition to a challenging and well-balanced college education, the Naval Academy provides students with “the resources to truly become great leaders in whatever naval warfare field they go into.”
In many classes, discussions take the place of lectures, encouraging students to “outside the classroom and then discuss our actions and others’ reactions.” Classes in seamanship and navigation send midshipmen on real ships to practise; in the summer, students also participate in various training programmes to get firsthand military experience.
Both a direct application to the academy and a nomination—typically from a member of Congress—are typically requirements for admission. Students hold the midshipman rank and are officers-in-training.
According to starting salaries, some of the graduates from the United States Naval Academy are among the highest paid in the nation. A broad academic programme, military leadership abilities, and the requirement to compete in team sports are used to grade midshipmen’s performance in the academic programme, which awards a Bachelor of Science degree. Midshipmen are expected to uphold the honour concept of the academy.
If you fit the following requirements, you may apply to the United States Naval Academy: a citizen of the United States as of July 1 of the entry year. a minimum age of 17 and a maximum age of 23 as of July 1st of the entry year.
You will receive a commission as an Ensign in the American Navy or a Second Lieutenant in the American Marine Corps after graduating. You must serve a minimum of five years on active duty after being commissioned.
The average pay for Navy Seals in the US is $76,394, with salaries ranging from $15,929 to $424,998. Navy Seals in the middle earn between $76,394 and $192,310 annually, with the top 86 percent earning $424,998.
United States Naval Academy’s acceptance rate is 8.5 percent.
Only 9 out of every 100 applicants are accepted. This demonstrates how picky the school is. To get past their initial filters and demonstrate your academic readiness, it’s crucial to meet their GPA requirements and SAT/ACT requirements.
There are no tuition fees at the United States Naval Academy.
This means that, in exchange for five years of active-duty service following graduation, ALL students who enrol in the Naval Academy receive full scholarships to attend.
In terms of National Liberal Arts Colleges, the United States Naval Academy is ranked sixth. Schools are rated based on how well they perform against a set of generally recognised indicators of excellence. Learn more about our school rankings here.
