A state park in Arizona, Slide Rock State Park is situated in Oak Creek Canyon seven miles north of Sedona.
The Arizona State Parks organisation and the United States Forest Service jointly oversee Slide Rock State Park.
Its name comes from a water slide that Oak Creek's slick bed naturally created.
Frank L. Pendley, who moved to the canyon in 1907 and obtained title to the property under the Homestead Act in 1910
Pendley Homestead Trail, Slide Rock Route, and Clifftop Nature Trail are the three hiking trails in Slide Rock State Park.
One of the most popular tourist destinations in Arizona, Slide Rock State Park welcomed 254,584 visitors in 2005.
On July 10, 1985, Arizona State Parks acquired the park from the Arizona Parklands Foundation.
In October 1987, it receives its official dedication as Slide Rock State Park.
Although some visitors complain about the occasionally congested areas, many still believe the park is worth going to, especially if you have children.
Many visitors bring their families and stay all day in the park to enjoy the sunshine and go swimming.
In the summer, Saturday and Sunday between 12 and 4 p.m. are typically the busiest times.
To avoid long lines, schedule your visit during off-peak times. Bring your camera with you because there will be lots of chances to take pictures!
