Milo McIver State Park

Milo McIver State Park is located 45 minutes from Portland along the scenic Clackamas River. This lovely park offers a wide range of excellent recreational opportunities. You can explore the river, forest, and fields for a day or a week.

Milo McIver State Park

Milo K. McIver was honored with the park’s name. McIver served on the Oregon Highway Commission from April 1, 1950, to March 31, 1962, and chaired the commission from April 1, 1958, to March 31, 1962. McIver set a commission record for the length of service.

Vortex I, a government-sponsored music festival, was held in the park in 1970. Under an agreement, the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife operates a fish hatchery in the park.

Park Amenities

Day use and overnight camping, primitive campsites, hiking and horse trails, boating, bird watching, and a disc golf course are all available at the park.

There are two small bridges that cross small streams. The park’s master plan also calls for the development of a horse camping area.

Are Pets allowed at Milo McIver State Park?

Pets are allowed in the campground as long as they are confined to your tent, camper, or vehicle, or are kept on a leash while exploring the park. You’ll also need to clean up after your dog and dispose of its waste as needed.

Where do you fish in Milo McIver?

Estacada Lake has a boat ramp and an ADA fishing dock for anglers, and the Clackamas River has steelhead and Chinook runs. The Clackamas Fish Hatchery is located in McIver Park, and visitors can take self-guided tours of the hatchery to learn about the life cycles of Chinook salmon and steelhead.

How many acres is Milo McIver State Park?

Milo McIver has over 950 acres of lush forest and grassy meadows on natural terraces above the Clackamas River, as well as views of three prominent Cascade peaks: Oregon’s Mt. Hood, Washington’s Mount St. Helens, and Mt. Rainier.

What caused the McIver park fire?

The cause of the fire is still unknown. The Oregon Department of Forestry and Estacada Fire are still looking into the incident. The investigation is expected to be completed by mid-November, according to officials. If someone is found to be the cause of a fire, they are liable for firefighting expenses under state law.

According to local and state officials, the fire burned 30 acres in total, including 15 acres within the park. Between September 9 and 10, approximately 550 homes near the park were evacuated. The fire destroyed a house and a barn.

Estacada, Oregon — Milo McIver State Park reopened its campgrounds for the first time two weeks after a fire burned 15 acres near the park’s entrance. The Riverside day-use area, which includes the viewpoint, dog park, equestrian area, Estacada Lake, and upper boat launch, opened earlier this week.
