Nepal is the country with lofty mountains, and rolling valleys. Nepal is also called “Roof of the Earth”.

The season of Nepal is divided into four parts, i.e. Spring (March to May), Summer (June to August), Autumn (September to November) & Winter (December to February).

Nepal Season, Climate and Temperature

Spring Season (March to May)

Temperature ranges between 16 and 23 Degree Celsius

Spring refer to the season that gives ideas of rebirth and rejuvenation. In Nepal, temperature during spring season is slightly warm in the lower areas but on the higher altitudes, you will get pleasant cool temperature. Spring is the time when flowers blossom, greenery all around.

In this particular season, Nepal attracts large number of tourists in the country, since the months of March and April are considered to be the second best season for trekking, the best time being October and November though.

Summer (June to August)

Temperature ranges between 23 and 25 Degree Celsius

Summer season also brings monsoon, during this particular season in Nepal, the weather is hot and wet at times. However, it rains almost every day with occasional thunderstorms in the evening. The rain spreads the pleasantness around with lush green vegetation.

The weather condition makes a good time for the visitors you want to misspeak season in the cities. Rains often come at night, so days can still be beautiful. Unfortunately, the monsoon means trekking in the most popular areas of Nepal, and Upper Mustang and Upper Dolpo are great alternatives routes in the rain shadow.

The capital city of Kathmandu averages temperatures in between 26-28 degree Celsius during this particular season, with plenty of rainfall. Though, temperature in the Himalayas still cooler, around 16 degrees Celsius, but elsewhere, you’ll find temperatures up into the 30’s with lots of rain.

Autumn (September to November)

Temperature ranges between 15 and 24 Degree Celsius

Travellers who visit Nepal in autumn season can visit landmark architectures; it is the best time for sightseeing of beautiful natural scenery of Himalaya Range, and even Mount Everest. You can carry on with your favourite activities likewise trekking, paragliding, hiking, water rafting etc.

The tourist industry is on boom during the autumn season in Nepal; since it is the time when summer gone and winter is round the corner. The weather is highly pleasant on the mountains and it is the peak season for trekking as mountain views are so better. This is also the season of festivities as Nepal celebrates their biggest festival namely, Dusshera.

An autumn season is the best season to plan a trip to Nepal. The clear sky, pleasantly moderate temperature and little rainfall welcomes you, within just short period of autumn season, Nepal attract thousands of tourists from all around the world. Winter (December to February)

Temperature ranges between 09 and 12 Degree Celsius

Winter in Nepal are cold and dry, between December and February. The weather is cool and the sky is clear with occasional snowfalls at higher elevations. This season is good for trekking in lower elevations. The morning and night is cold and the days are warm when sunny.

The capital of Nepal, Kathmandu reaches up to 20 degrees Celsius during the day, but cools off at night. Everest Base Camp averages around 4 degrees Celsius, having bright sunshine during the day, but in the night temperature drop well below zero.

You can see these cool conditions cover the surrounding mountains with snow, and ensuring spectacular views to the visitors.

Trekking (Spring and Autumn)

Although, you can technically hike in Nepal all year round, but most trekkers choose between the two peak hiking seasons of autumn and spring. If you are visiting for the first time trekking in Nepal, we recommend to visit during one of these peak seasons. During this time, you will get clear mountain views, sunny skies, mild temperatures, and little precipitation.

Nepal Honey hunting is an age-old tradition here. As they have for generations, the men come to harvest the Himalayan cliff bee’s honey. It is a real and frequent activities of Nepalese, it’s been practiced for thousands of years. There are some villages in Nepal, who are completely depend upon Honey Hunting for their livelihood. Honey hunters are quite exceptional with their skills, as they hang themselves from cliffs as high as 300 meters approx. using bamboo ladders, while harvesting honeycombs.
