You can also plan to visit during the winter months that start from October to March. During these months, temperature for water sports and other outdoor activities are perfect. What about the monsoon in Andaman and Nicobar Islands?
The monsoon usually hits Andaman around late May and continues till mid of September. Monsoon in Andaman are known for heavy showers and high tides. During the monsoon, seas remain uneven and island bouncing. Also, activities like swimming, snorkelling and water sports are not possible at all during the monsoon season. It is therefore not recommended to visit Andaman Islands during the monsoon season.

Havelock Island
Havelock Island, also known as Swaraj Island or Swaraj Dweep, it is one of the largest islands of Andaman. It belongs to the South Andaman administrative district and an integral part of the Indian union territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. It is situated 40 kms. away to the north east of Port Blair, the capital city of Adnaman and Nicobar Islands.
Elephant Beach
Elephant beach is also located in Havelock Islands, it is a must visit beach of Andaman. You can reach the beach from the main jetty within 20 minutes approximately by boat ride from Havelock Island dock.
You can reach via road as well, take a public transport bus from the main Jetty or alternatively you can hire a bike as well. You will also find an auto around the jetty in Havelock Island.
Radhanagar Beach
Radhanagar Beach in Andaman has won many awards. Earlier, this beach was named Asia’s best beach and World’s 7th best beach by Time Magazine in 2004. This beach offers a beautiful and memorable sunrises and sunsets. You should not missed it, when you stay at least for 24 hours.
Radhanagar beach has everything one can ever dreamed of, blue waves with lush green on the other side. A perfect place to visit for newly married couple, do plan to visit here for your honeymoon if you haven’t married as of yet.
Vijaynagar Beach
Vijaynagar beach is a calm and quiet beach of Andaman, it attracts people who love nature and want to spend great time in peace. Do visit here to get away from the annoying crowd. Taking a long walk along with the beach during the sunsets is a great pleasure to the visitors.
It is a white sand beach with blue water, having coconut trees lined up; you can read, drink, walk or just take a nap. The beach provides several water sports activities as well, likewise scuba-diving, fishing and snorkelling.
Do carry cash with you, since there is hardly any ATM machine you find at Vijaynagar Beach.
Ross Island
Ross island named after Captain Daniel Ross, though this Island is now renamed as “Netaji Shubash Chandra Bose Dweep” by Narendra Modi, PM of India in the year 2018.
It is located under South Adnaman district, and the capital city is hardly 5 Kms from the Water Sports Complex, which makes it one of easiest inter-island to the visitors.
In the earlier days, Ross island was quite popular and famous as the headquarters of the British Colony in the state. Nowadays, the island is under the Indian Navy’s control, you will find numerous churches and a small museum, Smritika, which recalls memory of the British way of life.
Things to do in Andaman and Nicobar Islands
Scuba Diving
Normally, the depth of the Scuba diving is anywhere between 6 to 18 meters. There are various spots for scuba diving in Andaman island. The amazing interiors can fill divers with lots of different experiences, varieties of corals, trigger fish, butterfly fish, parrot fish, shrimps, eels etc.
Though, it is perfectly ok and safe for the first timers who try scuba diving in Andaman. You will be given proper training before you actually do scuba dive, it is very much suitable for any first-time diver.
Sea Walking
This amazing activity will remain in your memories for long long years. Sea Walking is the most unique and magnificent experience one can have in the Andaman Islands. Though, it is quite similar like scuba diving, but you do not have to worry about to dive and constant swimming.
All you need to do is to walk on the bottom of an ocean, as if you are walking on the land. Enjoy your walk on the ocean bottom, and experience the underwater excellence.

Snorkelling

Kayaking
The kayak takes place in the park, where you go along with experienced trainers and given all the necessary training and equipment. As soon as the activity begins, you are taken from the covered mangrove canopy of the jungle through the narrow lagoon, to an open area, full of wilderness, complemented by small islets.

The best time for a Kayaking trip in Andaman is from October to May, since weather is quite clear during these months and water levels are medium as well, which makes the condition perfect for the activity,
During monsoon, you should avoid doing Kayaking as heavy rain can fill the kayak quickly which raise water levels beyond control. Also, flow of the water remains unstable for up to 48 hours after a heavy rainfall. You must plan your trip accordingly, during the monsoon season.
How to reach at Andaman and Nicobar Islands?
Since Andaman and Nicobar is an island, and therefore no train facility is available here. Though, the island is well connected with India through sea as well as air routes.
The airport is located at the capital of Andaman, and that is “Port Blair”, you can get direct flights from Chennai, Kolkata and Vishakhapatnam. You will also get a connecting flight from the various parts of the country, especially from New Delhi and other cities of India as well.
